Opposing manager - David Moyes

Few managers can say they have more experience than Pep Guardiola, but David Moyes is one of them.

The Everton boss has taken charge of 722 Premier League games since first taking the hotseat at Goodison Park in 2002.

He stayed for 11 years before a brief and unsuccessful spell at Manchester United as Alex Ferguson’s successor.

Stints at Real Sociedad and Sunderland followed before back-to-back times in charge of West Ham spanning 2017 to 2024.

West Ham is where he won his first major honour, lifting the UEFA Conference League in 2022/23.

He returned to Everton in January of this year and is now overseeing the club’s transition to life at their brand new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

He’s incredibly well respected across the top-flight, having won the LMA Manager of the Year three times and the Premier League Manager of the Month award on 11 occasions.

Previous meeting

A second half brace from Erling Haaland proved enough to power Pep Guardiola’s side to victory over the Merseysiders at the Etihad back in October – and up into second spot in the table.

The Norwegian maintained his incredible start to the 2025/26 season by heading City into a 58th minute lead to register a goal for the 11th match in succession.

Five minutes later the striker struck again, despatching a superb finish to Savinho’s assist to take his overall tally for the season to 23 for club and country – and 14 for City.

The victory was also enough to power City into first place in the Premier League table on goal difference for a few hours at least before Arsenal’s later win at Fulham left us second.

Last time out

City produced a comeback 2-1 win against Southampton at Wembley to book a record fourth successive FA Cup final appearance.

After going behind to a Finn Azaz opener for the Saints late on, goals from Jeremy Doku and Nico Gonzalez at the death meant it was City who progressed to the showpiece next month and a second final appearance this season after beating Arsenal to lift the Carabao Cup.
