FLW's West Ham fan pundit has shared their thoughts on Everton's supposed £20 million bid for Jarrod Bowen

West Ham United's star assets are bound to be highly sought after this summer following relegation, as Nuno Espirito Santo braces himself for offers ahead of a huge transfer window at the London Stadium.

Relegation for West Ham means the club will be playing second-tier football for the first time in 14 years, as numerous of the club's stars are bound to be linked with moves elsewhere.

Each of Crysencio Summerville, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Mateus Fernandes have been touted with moves elsewhere following the disappointment, with the latter edging closer to a blockbuster move to Manchester United after reportedly agreeing personal terms with the Red Devils.

Nuno will be well aware of the need to raise funds following the loss of Premier League revenue, but will be equally keen to retain as many of their stars as they can to best prepare themselves for an immediate return to the top flight.

The Portuguese head coach had the likes of Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves, and Willy Boly at his disposal when he last won the second-tier title with Wolverhampton Wanderers, and will be hoping for similar firepower this time around in the capital, as the latest interest in one of their best players is set to test their resolve.

Everton are weighing up a £20 million bid for West Ham star Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen has been West Ham's star player for much of the past six-and-a-half years since his £20 million move from Hull City in January 2020, having scored 85 and assisting 63 across 280 games in all competitions for the Hammers, including the goal that secured the UEFA Europa Conference League title for the club back in 2023.

However, following relegation, the Englishman has been heavily linked with an exit from the London Stadium, and could well depart the club this summer, with the likes of Man United, Newcastle United, and Liverpool having been linked.

Now, it appears as though former boss David Moyes is planning a reunion with the forward at Everton this summer, as, according to Alan Nixon's Patreon, the Toffees are preparing a £20 million bid for the 29-year-old.

Football League World's West Ham fan pundit, Ryan Horn, has shared their thoughts on Everton reportedly lining up a £20 million bid for Bowen, and whether that price is an accurate reflection of what the Hammers should be commanding for his services.

Ryan told FLW: "I don't blame David Moyes for wanting Jarrod Bowen at Everton. I mean, it was one of Moyes' earlier signings, and what a signing he's been. An absolute legend for the club, Jarrod Bowen has been.

"£20 million doesn't even pay for his left foot. I don't think there's enough money, for me personally, to go, 'Okay, Jarrod, you can leave'.

"He's just so different, and you can't buy what he brings to the team, I don't think. It's more than just goals and assists. £20 million is way too low. That's laughable.

"If Jarrod Bowen stays, and he takes us back to the Prem, you know, he's not just a legend of the club. He's going to be in the status of Bobby Moore and Billy Bonds. But no, £20 million [is] laughable."

Despite relegation, Hammers head coach Nuno will be confident of retaining Bowen's services.

The 22-capped England international has struck up an incredible affinity with the West Ham supporters during his time with the club, becoming the club captain and leading them to the Europa Conference League title three years ago.

Though West Ham were poor throughout the bulk of the season, Bowen's nine goals and 11 assists are both team highs, as he leads by voice and example.

He cannot be replaced easily, and his loss would be felt more significantly than any other player currently in the Hammers' ranks.

Fernandes' lucrative move to Man United, hopefully for Nuno, will mean he doesn't have to cash in on Bowen this summer, and that he is open to stay despite Championship football awaiting, as if Bowen remains in the second tier, West Ham surely already have one foot back in the top flight.

A £20 million bid from Everton almost certainly won't be enough to make West Ham think twice, and a bid in excess of double that amount will only be enough for the Hammers to consider, who will be desperate to keep hold of their prized asset.
