“Hello, everyone. Just stopping by to reassure you all. I’m already at home, recovering well. What I had was thyroid cancer, the most common type, called papillary, a tumor with no defined cause. The surgery was a success, complete removal. And, thank God, we received great news: the pathology results came in and we found out that I don’t need any further treatment. I’d like to thank Bahia’s Medical Department, who noticed these changes in my routine blood tests and quickly intervened, guiding me on what to do and the next steps until the diagnosis was discovered. I’d also like to thank Dr. Márcio Abraão, who performed a flawless surgery. I was already talking and eating very well right after. He gave me full support at all times. I also thank Dr. Fernando Maluf, who from day one gave us peace of mind, talked to me and Marília (my wife), and gave us all the support. He organized the entire surgery and, to this day, is with us, always in contact. That was very important for all of us. And of course, I want to thank my friends, fans, and the thousands of supporters who sent prayers and messages; my family, who were with me the whole time, anxious but by my side; and my wife, Marília, who from day one ran around more than I could have imagined. She was the one who found Dr. Fernando Maluf. She went after everything needed, all the information, to keep me calm for this surgery. I thank her so much. I love you. Thank you for being my support and being with me at all times — in sickness and in health. I love you so much. I also thank, of course, God, who gave me all this strength and improvement, and gave me the understanding to know that everything is for Him and by Him. Even in illness, He is with us and has the best for each of us. May this difficult moment be used for His honor and glory, another miracle in my life. Now, may I return as soon as possible to the field, where I feel happy. Now comes a recovery period. We’ve set a goal, a path to follow with all safety, at the right time, but with the certainty and faith that I’ll return 100% — focused, strong, and happy — to play football, help my teammates, and be on the pitch, where I feel happy and fulfilled.
