‘Every player needs to give something extra’ – Igor Tudor hoping to instil confidence in Spurs squad | OneFootball

New Spurs boss Igor Tudor says one of his first priorities will be to try to give the players more confidence.

Tudor has been appointed at Tottenham on a deal until the end of the season, replacing Thomas Frank who was sacked earlier this month.

“The first priority is to give everything the team needs in this moment,” Tudor said, speaking in his first interview with the club.

“The team needs, I believe, first of all, support to get some confidence, some courage, but also the concrete things on the pitch.

“Of course, I’m coming here knowing the situation is not easy. There’s no time to find excuses.

“What I said from the first day here, each of us, each of the players need to give something extra, something more, because the position of the club in this moment is not that anybody can accept. Every fan of Tottenham cannot accept the situation.

“We are aware of that but it’s not enough just to be aware of that.”

Spurs sit 16th in the Premier League, just five points above West Ham in the relegation zone ahead of the north London derby with league leaders Arsenal.

“The situation is not easy because we have a lot of injured players,” Tudor continued. “We need first to find the best system that suits the players that are available at this moment.

“Maybe this will sound strange but I believe the thing we need to be focused on is the training. The training from today is the key because the game is a consequence of the training.

“I like to be positive, I like to play offensive football, that’s my first goal. I like to score goals but in the same way you also need to give organisation in defence.”
