Kylian Mbappe is set to celebrate another huge milestone for France when Les Bleus face Iraq at the 2026 FIFA World Cup this evening.

The France captain will represent his country for the 100th time tonight, becoming only the 10th player to achieve that feat.

Mbappe’s international career is already hugely decorated. He won the 2018 World Cup with France while still a teenager, before winning the 2022 World Cup Golden Boot with eight goals in Qatar, including a hat-trick against Argentina in the final.

Just last week, Mbappe’s two goals in France’s 3-1 win over Senegal saw him surpass Olivier Giroud as the country’s all-time record scorer. He’s netted 58 goals in his 99 appearances to date, including 14 at the World Cup. Only three players in the tournament’s history have ever scored more.

Mbappe still has some way to go to catch France’s record appearance maker, with Hugo Lloris holding the record. The goalkeeper played 145 times for Les Bleus and captained France to their World Cup win in 2018.

However, at just 27, Mbappe has plenty of time to hunt down Lloris’s record. Next in his sights is current head coach Didier Deschamps, on 103 caps.
