Champions League

There will be five Premier League teams in the UEFA Champions League in 2026/27. Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Aston Villa all earned qualification after a top-four finish, while Liverpool’s sneak in via UEFA’s European Performance Spots.

England and Spain earned the extra 2026/27 league phase places due to coefficient, with Liverpool qualifying after ending the Premier League campaign fifth.

Aston Villa also earned Champions League qualification by winning the Europa League. However, that spot does not get passed down the Premier League table. Instead, the club who are set to play in the Champions League qualifiers with the highest coefficient will go straight into the league phase. It looks set to benefit Portugal’s Sporting CP.

Europa League

Bournemouth, Sunderland

Bournemouth and Sunderland have secured Europa League places after remarkable seasons.

For the Cherries, it’s a first-ever European campaign, while Sunderland snuck into the top seven after beating Chelsea on the final day. The Black Cats return to Europe 52 years after their only previous continental campaign.

Crystal Palace could join them if they beat Rayo Vallecano in the Europa Conference League final.

Europa Conference League

Brighton

Brighton snuck into Europe despite a disastrous defeat to Manchester United. The Seagulls lost 3-0 at the Amex Stadium, but Chelsea’s loss at Sunderland ensured they still secured Europe.

Brighton did, however, drop from a Europa League spot into the Conference League.
