Ex-Barcelona star set to be named manager of Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami | OneFootball

One-time Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano is all set be named the new head coach of MLS outfit Inter Miami.

That’s according to Argentine football insider César Luis Merlo, who has on Friday provided an insight into the situation.

The situation on the bench at Chase Stadium has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in the American soccer scene over the course of recent days.

This comes after Gerardo Martino made the call to step down from his role, on the back of Inter’s exit from the MLS Cup at the hands of Atlanta United.

The brass in Miami have since set about sourcing a swift replacement for Martino, with as much, as per the aforementioned César Luis Merlo, having this week been found.

This comes amid confirmation that:

‘Javier Mascherano is the new coach of Inter Miami. The club is already exchanging documents with the Argentine, who will sign a long-term contract.’

Mascherano is all set to depart his role as Argentina U20 boss, to reunite with ex-Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suárez in Florida.
