Ex-Celtic trio settling into new clubs after summer exits from Paradise | OneFootball

Three of Celtic’s high-profile summer departures have wasted little time making their mark at their new clubs, with Kelechi Iheanacho, Arne Engels and Reo Hatate all enjoying encouraging starts since leaving Glasgow. All three were in precarious positions this summer with their future seemingly destined elsewhere for different reasons but they have all enjoyed promising starts.

Iheanacho has produced the most eye-catching numbers. The Nigerian has been revitalised at Bursaspor, scoring six goals and providing two assists across his opening five league appearances. Remarkably, the former Celtic striker has found the net in every league match so far.

Engels, meanwhile, appears to be finding his feet at West Ham following a difficult debut. The Belgian registered an assist in a 4-2 victory over Wolves before delivering an impressive all-round performance against Derby County, creating six chances while also contributing eight recoveries as West Ham ran out 3-0 winners. Supporters of the Hammers have been positive about his displays online, recognising the quality that saw Celtic receive a record fee for a Championship club.

Hatate has made an equally promising introduction at Burnley following his deadline-day switch from Celtic. The Hoops sold the maverick midfielder for £6.5m plus add-ons in a fairly surprising development before the window shut. The Japanese midfielder was immediately handed a starting berth against Bristol City and demonstrated his creative qualities by providing the assist for Burnley’s opening goal.

Although his new side ultimately suffered a 2-1 defeat, Hatate’s performance earned praise from manager Nicky Hayen. The new Turf Moor gaffer came up against Hatate in Brendan Rodgers’ first season back at Celtic Park, with the sides playing out a 1-1 draw.

Players can often struggle after leaving Celtic Park, learning that the grass isn’t always greener. It reflects well on Celtic when players go on and enjoy success. For Hatate, Iheanacho and Engels, the early signs have been positive.
