Ex-Poland goalkeeper Tomaszewski blames Hansi Flick for Barcelona star’s Ballon d’Or snub | OneFootball

Ever since his arrival at FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick has given very little cause for complaint and has impressed both with his professional demeanor and with the results he has achieved on the pitch.

As a result, both the club’s fans and administration has been very satisfied with the German coach. However, there are still some people who remain discontented with the Blaugrana trainer’s work.

As SPORT has reported, one such individual is the former Polish goalkeeper Jan Tomaszewski, who recently aired his discontent with Flick to the media.

The legendary Polish goalie blamed the German coach for Robert Lewandowski not featuring prominently in the recent Ballon d’Or rankings.

Talking about the Ballon d’Or, Tomaszewski believed Lewandowski should have ranked higher than he did:

“I think Lewi should be among the top ten. We can argue about whether Dembele deserved the award, but his team won the Champions League, and it would be foolish to give the prize to a player who wasn’t a European champion.”

On the other hand, he openly expressed his desire for Barcelona to part ways with Flick:

“Flick cannot continue. I hope they don’t renew his contract, because the German gentleman isn’t performing very well. With such a footballing ‘weapon’, he should have won everything in Europe. And they lost against Inter, a good team, but that was exposed in the final with a 5-0 against PSG.”

One can understand why Tomaszewski wanted his compatriot to win the Ballon d’Or, but his argument does not make a lot of sense, as two other Barcelona players, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, were competing for this prize as well, and they finished among the top 5. If it was Flick’s mistake, they would also have finished further down in the rankings.

Anyway, it is unlikely that the Pole’s complaints would have any effect at Barcelona, as Hansi Flick is clearly doing a very good job with the Blaugrana team.
