Former Roma defender Vincent Candela has praised Inter Milan for their superiority over other Serie A clubs in recent years.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Candela offered his verdict on an intense Scudetto battle.
Inter’s last Serie A title dates back to the 2023/24 season when Simone Inzaghi inspired them to a landmark 20th Scudetto.
However, the Al-Hilal manager failed to defend the crown last term as Napoli beat Inter to the punch on the final weekend.
Despite undergoing a managerial change in the summer, the San Siro giants remain one of the most genuine title contenders this season.
Indeed, Cristian Chivu has steered the Nerazzurri to the top of the table, moving them a point clear of second-placed AC Milan.
Yet, it’s worth noting that only four points separate the top five teams midway through the campaign.
Therefore, this promises to be one of the most dramatic Serie A title races in recent memory.

Gian Piero Gasperini has enjoyed a stellar start at Roma, transforming the Giallorossi into viable title candidates.
Asked whether they can fight for the Scudetto this term, Candela replied: “Of course, the table speaks for itself.
“It’s right to fight until the end for the Champions League, but in football, it’s also nice to dream.
“And then, in recent years, for me the strongest team of all has always been Inter, yet Milan won once and Napoli twice.
“Which means it can be done, regardless of who is stronger on paper.”
Despite entering the new calendar year as the league leaders, Inter cannot afford to rest on their laurels.
Furthermore, Chivu’s side will seek revenge when they take on Bologna in their first match of 2026 on Sunday.
Vincenzo Italiano’s side stunned the Nerazzurri in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-finals a fortnight ago.
Therefore, the hosts will have an added motive to extend their four-game winning streak in Serie A when the Rossoblu arrive at San Siro.
