Birmingham City are set to loan out highly-rated prospect Menzi Mazwi amid interest from a number of EFL clubs, Football League World understands
It has shaped up to prove an extremely busy transfer window on all fronts at Birmingham City, with Knighthead Capital Management sanctioning no shortage of incomings and outgoings this month - and Football League World can now exclusively reveal another impending departure from St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.
Birmingham are yet to consistently deliver upon well-documented internal and external promotion expectations following last season's record-breaking title-winning campaign in League One, and Chris Davies' side remain positioned in 13th position with just 17 matches left to play.
They are, however, still just five points shy of fellow big-spenders Wrexham in sixth-place, and will be hoping to bolster their play-off aspirations with an array of additions throughout January.
Blues have already brought Ibrahim Osman, August Priske, Jhon Solis and in-form left-back Kai Wagner to the West Midlands in eye-catching deals ahead of Carlos Vicente's impending arrival from Deportivo Alaves, whereas Davies has also looked to streamline his squad by letting a number of fringe players out through the door.

Indeed, Birmingham have seen no fewer than eight exits take place. Eiran Cashin and Lewis Koumas both saw their mixed loan tenures ended prematurely, Emil Hansson and Alfons Sampsted have returned to the Eredivisie, Marc Leonard has joined Hearts on loan and Keshi Anderson, Lyndon Dykes and Dion Sanderson are all remaining in the Championship after their departures by joining Portsmouth, Charlton Athletic and Derby County respectively.
And now, as the February 2 deadline edges ever closer, FLW has learned that Birmingham are ready to let a ninth player leave the club.
Football League World can exclusively reveal that the player in question is highly-rated academy product Menzi Mazwi.
FLW understands that Birmingham have decided to make a decision on the immediate future of the 19-year-old, who penned his first professional contract in the summer of 2024 and is now set to head out on loan for the remainder of the current campaign in a bid to gain senior minutes elsewhere.

It's believed that Mazwi is receiving loan interest from a number of clubs throughout the EFL, with suitors in League Two and potentially League One likely to be keen on the left-back's services.
Mazwi, who has already earned two international caps for Zimbabwe, is yet to make his senior debut at Birmingham despite featuring in each of Blues' last seven matchday squads.
With competition having only become stiffer following Wagner's aforementioned arrival, however, it has been decided that the ex-Wales youth international will spend the rest of the season away from Birmingham in a move which appears to lend itself to the best interests of all parties.
Bluenoses will be watching on eagerly to see where the teenager ends up and exactly how he fares, with a successful loan stint elsewhere capable of potentially opening the door for Mazwi to force his way into Davies' first-team thinking.
