Exclusive Celtic TV Interview: Benjamin Nygren

It was announced earlier today that Swedish internationalist, Benjamin Nygren has joined the Celts on a five-year deal from Danish side Nordsjælland.

The 23-year old winger brings with him a wealth of experience, having already made over 200 appearances since his breakthrough in to the professional game.

And, speaking to Celtic TV at Paradise today, the Swede expressed his delight at making the move to the East End of Glasgow, as he highlighted his key attributes that he will bring to the Hoops’ first team squad.

“I feel amazing,” Nygren said. “It’s so nice to be here. I’ve been looking forward to this so much.

“I’m a player who wants to create a lot of chances and go towards goal. I’m a link between the defence and the offence and I can run a lot.

‘I’m an offensive-minded player but I also work hard and try to do my best in all parts of the game.’

“I can score goals, create chances from the second wave and I’m a player who wants to go towards goal.

“Even though I’m 23 years old, I have played over 200 games. I have a lot of experience and that’s what I want to bring.”

Nygren becomes the latest Swedish talent to pull on the green and white hoops, following in the footsteps of fellow countrymen Gustaf Lagerbielke, Carl Starfelt, Mikael Lustig and, of course, Henrik Larsson, to name just a few.

And Nygren admitted that the winning culture that exists at Celtic was a big factor in his decision to sign for the Celts, as he also looked ahead to enjoying life off of the pitch in Scotland.

He said: “I love golf, I think it’s my biggest hobby. My handicap is six or seven, so on a good day I am good!

“I’ve heard there are great courses here in Scotland so I’m looking forward to seeing those too.

“I’m a very competitive person and this is something that I love about Celtic. It’s a huge club and I love that.

“And also the winning mentality, I want to be with similar-minded people who also love to win so that is something I love about the club.”
