Lee Grant is fighting for his job as Huddersfield Town manager following a poor run of form.
Lee Grant is fighting to save his job as Huddersfield Town manager as the club's poor run of form in League One continues, sources have exclusively informed Football League World.
After a spell as coach at Ipswich Town, Grant was handed his first managerial role by Huddersfield in May when he was appointed as Michael Duff's permanent replacement following his dismissal towards the end of last season.
Grant's tenure at the Accu Stadium got off to the perfect start as his side won their opening two league games of the season to emerge as one of the early pace-setters in League One, while he also masterminded EFL Cup victories over Championship side Leicester City and Premier League outfit Sunderland.
However, the Terriers have been unable to maintain their early momentum under Grant, and they have won just two of their last eight league games, while they fell to their third consecutive defeat as they were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park on Saturday, albeit they were not helped by Alfie May's early red card.
Having topped the table earlier in the season, Huddersfield now sit ninth in the standings, and as well as being seven points adrift of the automatic promotion places, they are also five points from a play-off spot.

Grant is the fifth permanent manager to have worked under Kevin Nagle during his time as Huddersfield owner, and another managerial chance could soon be on the way, with sources informing FLW that the 42-year-old is now fighting to save his job after a thumping 3-0 defeat at Wycombe.
During the recent international break, Nagle took to social media to describe rumours that Grant was on the verge of being sacked as "absolutely false", but with the Terriers suffering two further defeats against Bolton Wanderers and Wycombe since then, his stance could be set to change.
After an eye-catching summer of transfer activity that saw the arrival of 14 new signings, the Terriers were tipped by many to win the title this season, and Grant was under pressure to deliver after the club's underwhelming 10th-placed finish in the previous campaign.
However, despite the departure of former sporting director Mark Cartwright, who was sacked in April after strong criticism from supporters, Town have not made the improvements they would have hoped for this season, and they are currently sliding back towards mid-table as their disappointing run of form under Grant continues.
Huddersfield are back in action when they make the trip to Bolton in the FA Cup first round on Saturday, but it remains to be seen whether Grant will still be in charge for the clash at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Having already sacked four managers during his turbulent tenure at Huddersfield, Nagle will be reluctant to make another managerial change, particularly so early in the season.
However, there is no doubt that the Terriers' results and performances have been going in the wrong direction in recent weeks, and with increasing numbers of supporters calling for his sacking after the defeat at Wycombe on Saturday, Nagle may have little choice but to act.
With a two-week break from league action ahead, it would be the ideal time for Nagle to part company with Grant should he decide a change is necessary, but it is a huge decision facing the American, who has already made a host of poor managerial calls during his tenure.
