Anfield Watch understands Liverpool are lining up a move for their next Roberto Firmino.

Michael Edwards didn’t need many words to reveal his favourite Liverpool signing in his 2022 farewell letter.

Instead, all he left us with was that he had named his dog “Bobby.”

There's only one player who went by with that sobriquet in the last decade at Anfield - and he was the dazzling Brazilian with the perfect pearly white teeth.

Firmino had a rare blend of flair and selflessness. He could dazzle with his skill and creativity, yet was equally committed to the team, often sacrificing personal glory for the greater good.

He is now widely remembered as a Liverpool great, but his rise wasn’t always expected.

Before arriving at Anfield, he had built his reputation in Europe with TSG Hoffenheim, where Edwards and his recruitment team identified him as a player with significant potential based on both data and scouting.

That judgment proved spot on. Firmino went on to become one of Liverpool’s most successful and influential signings of the modern era.

And since he left the club, it's fair to say Liverpool haven't really replaced him.

Hugo Ekitike has probably come the closest to reproducing the flair and evoking the love that Firmino had from the supporters but the Frenchman still has a long way to fulfil the Brazilian's legacy at Anfield.

With Ekitike's injury, Liverpool are also now exploring the conditions for adding another forward to their ranks.

It's already promising to be a hectic summer ahead for Richard Hughes and Edwards. Not only do they have to add another winger, maybe even two. Depending on who leaves the club, they are now in the market for a versatile attacker as well - someone in the mould of Firmino, who can play across the front three and potentially in other positions as well.

Anfield Watch understands Liverpool have set their sights on a very exciting target who has drawn comparisons to Firmino.

According to Anfield Watch's exclusive information Liverpool are exploring a move for Senny Mayulu of Paris Saint Germain.

The 19-year-old is very highly rated. However, it is understood that he is considering his future in Paris.

Mayulu has so far refused several contract offers as he seeks assurances of regular playing time for the French giants, which is something difficult to guarantee given the sheer depth of talent at PSG's disposal.

Liverpool believe Mayulu can play across the front line and he could be used in midfield as well - positions he has played for PSG.

The Frenchman has attracted the attention of the club particularly for his pressing and defensive qualities. Mayulu

He ranks in the top 10 Ligue 1 players for pressing duels and sixth for possessions won in the final third (1.20 per 90). This season he has won just under 70% of his 6.74 defensive duels playing a total of over 2000 minutes for PSG.

In the process, Mayulu also notched up 10 goal contributions, which is an impressive feat for the young midfielder who definitely knows how to arrive in the box.

The door is open for him to explore a move to Liverpool's and the Reds believe they have another factor that could sway him in favour of joining the club - the strong French contingent at Anfield.

Hugo Ekitike and Ibrahima Konate as well as Jeremy Jacquet are all players who grew up around the Paris neighbourhoods just like Mayulu and there is a chance they could entice him to come to Liverpool.

On top of that Liverpool will be able to offer him more playing time while he continues to develop in the best league in Europe.

Not to mention knowing how much Arne Slot admires PSG, he'd also be surely very excited by the club signing a player from the French giants.
