The 32-year-old has joined the Terriers on a three-year contract.
Huddersfield Town have signed prolific striker Alfie May from newly-promoted Championship side Birmingham City.
Football League World exclusively revealed that the Terriers were closing in on a deal to sign the 32-year-old for a fee of £1.2 million, and it has since been confirmed that he has completed a move to the Accu Stadium on a three-year contract.
The arrival of May has further strengthened Lee Grant's squad ahead of the 2025/26 League One season, with the likes of Ryan Ledson, Marcus Harness and Lynden Gooch having already been brought in during the current transfer window.
Huddersfield will be looking to improve on their 10th-place finish last term, and bringing in a centre-forward like May, who has scored 82 goals in the third tier across the last four seasons, is certainly a statement of intent.
Sky Sports pundit, Lee Hendrie, spoke exclusively to Football League World regarding Huddersfield's move for Alfie May, stating that he expects the striker to be an excellent signing for the Terriers.
"Yeah, it looked like Alfie May was not going to play much this season at Birmingham," Hendrie said.
"I think what he did at Blues last season showed that he is more than capable of stepping into a team in League One, particularly a team that is striving and looking forward.
"He showed that he was really key in the way that they used him, and I think he will probably feature more at Huddersfield - I think he will be a really good signing for them.
"I think he will have a point to prove as well. I think he will feel a bit gutted that, with Blues getting promoted, and obviously being on the up, he will not be a part of the squad.
"It is a really good move for him and for Birmingham, especially for him to join a club like Huddersfield who you feel are going to be right in the thick of things this season."
Huddersfield have finally completed the signing of May just over a year after they came close to signing the striker last summer, before he completed his switch to Birmingham City from Charlton Athletic.
The Terriers had agreed a fee of £750,000 to sign May from the Addicks, which would have seen the striker link back up with Michael Duff, after they worked together during a successful spell at Cheltenham Town.
However, after May had been cleared to discuss personal terms on a proposed move to West Yorkshire, Birmingham came in with an offer of £775,000 and hijacked Huddersfield's deal.
It was later revealed that May was keen to leave Charlton in order to be closer to his family, who are based in Yorkshire, despite the fact he originates from down south. The 32-year-old had a spell at Doncaster Rovers between 2017 and 2020.
Now, he has moved even closer to his family after finally signing for Huddersfield ahead of next season. The Terriers may have missed out on having May up front during their underwhelming 2024/25 campaign, and they paid more than they would have last summer to get a deal done this week, but all of that will be forgotten if he fires them to promotion.
