Former Napoli goalkeeping coach Luciano Tarallo believes Alex Meret will join either Inter Milan or Juventus in the summer.
Speaking to Radio Tutto Napoli via FCInterNews, Tarallo offered his opinion on the Italian goalkeeper’s future.
Furthermore, the 28-year-old has lost his starting berth to Vanja Milinkovic-Savic this season.
Indeed, the former Udinese star has made just eight Serie A appearances despite starting the season as the first option between the sticks.
However, Antonio Conte has preferred the Serbian ace, demoting Meret to the bench, which compromised the latter’s future in Naples.
Meanwhile, Inter and Juventus are both in the market for a new shot-stopper.
While Inter are keen to sign a long-term replacement for Yann Sommer, Juventus are searching for a reliable alternative to Michele Di Gregorio.
Reluctant to play second fiddle to Milinkovic-Savic, Meret could request a transfer at the end of the season.
On the other hand, Tarallo is confident he would only join Inter or Juventus should he sever ties with the Partenopei.
“From my point of view, he won’t stay; it would also be detrimental to his prestigious career,” he said. “I believe he will go and play in the north. I’m convinced he will move to Inter or Juventus, two clubs that deserve a goalkeeper of great value like him.
“I think Sommer will leave at the end of the season, while Martinez doesn’t provide reliability despite being a good goalkeeper.”
In addition to Meret, Inter are keeping close tabs on several other goalkeepers.
Tottenham Hotspur star Guglielmo Vicario has emerged as the club’s top target.
However, the former Empoli man commands a massvie €30 million price tag, which could prove a sticking point.
