On Monday, Movimento Expulsão Já will lodge with the club’s Conselho Deliberativo a request to expel former president Andrés Sanchez and strip his lifetime status. The petition has more than 50,000 signatures, including around 1,000 from members.
According to Meu Timao, the initiative comes from Projeto Time do Povo, linked to the Democracia Corinthiana collective of supporters and members at Parque São Jorge. The group aims to tackle impunity by flagging irregularities by recent Corinthians leaders and also seeks clarifications on cases involving ex-presidents Duílio Monteiro Alves and Augusto Melo.
The campaign began after the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a complaint against Andrés. It outlines actions said to have harmed the club’s assets, and the investigation alleges he used the corporate card for personal expenses during his tenure.
The movement also wants any expulsion session to be held with an open, nominal vote. It argues secrecy should not be used to protect private interests given the seriousness of the allegations.
In recent weeks, Corinthians’ Ethics Committee unanimously approved an opinion recommending the former president’s expulsion. Signatories include Chico Malfitani, founder of Gaviões da Fiel, and Sócrates Júnior, son of club great Sócrates. The campaign has support across eight Brazilian states and a further seven countries.
