Lennart Karl continues to generate enthusiasm at FC Bayern – and is now receiving prominent praise from club legend Thomas Müller

Thomas Müller spoke about the attacking gem in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, highlighting one quality in particular that currently sets Karl apart from many of his peers

„His shooting technique is definitely exceptional. He has a very good finish, and that’s an excellent quality,“ explained Müller. This is a decisive factor in FC Bayern’s attacking play in particular. Anyone who is „energetic and agile“ in that area will inevitably find themselves in dangerous finishing positions time and again. The fact that Karl regularly scores is therefore no coincidence, Müller emphasised clearly: „That’s why his goals are no coincidence, he definitely has the quality to do so.“

Müller compares Karl to Podolski

At the same time, the 36-year-old takes a differentiated view of the youngster’s further development. The decisive factor is not so much his pure talent in finishing, but rather the question of how consistently Karl can create these situations. „The question that will decide his future is rather how often he gets into such situations, whether he can create them himself, whether he needs the support of his team and so on,“ said Müller

The long-serving Bayern professional drew a comparison with a former international, saying that Lukas Podolski also possessed exceptional finishing quality with his left foot. „When he had the ball in a good position on his left foot, it went ‚boom‘,“ Müller recalled of Podolski’s time at Säbener Strasse. However, in international comparison, Podolski did not achieve such shooting positions often enough to be among the absolute world class on a permanent basis.
