Andrée Jeglertz says Iman Beney deserved her dramatic late winner in City’s 3-2 Barclays Women’s Super League victory over Arsenal.

The Switzerland international was a second-half substitute during the clash before she euphorically drilled home our third of the afternoon in the closing stages after the visitors' second equaliser of the contest.

Her euphoric strike represented her first goal for the Club after signing from BSC Young Boys Frauen in preseason in what was her fifth appearance for the Blues.

And Jeglertz believes her influential influence in the win over the European champions was just rewards for her desire to improve since her summer switch to the Joie Stadium.

“I’m extremely happy for her,” he declared.

“To be a young player leaving your home country and leaving a smaller club coming to England to this big club, a new environment is a huge step for a young player.

“That is a very important thing to know because it’s not just coming here to think players are going to perform [instantly].

“She needs to find her position in locker room, in the team and everything. That said, how she has handled this for first time has been fantastic.

“She’s started a couple, she’s come into the game today and really showed her qualities in it and being the hero of the game, I’m happy for her and she really deserves it.”

Following the victory over Arsenal, Jeglertz was also quick to sing Kerstin Casparij’s praises after the defender’s stellar display over the Gunners.

The Netherlands international provided the assist for Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s opener before finding the net herself which restored our lead after Mariona Caldentey’s equaliser shortly after half-time.

And the Blues’ head coach has hailed Casparij’s influence on and off the pitch so far this season.

He added: “She’s been player of the match in three games, Kerstin is a great player.

“She’s also a great team player. She’s really doing everything for the team atmosphere and working hard but also putting her higher and a giving her a little more responsibility in the attacking phase has given her more of a possibility to be part of that.

“For her also, even though she’s been here for a while to see she still has some steps to take and that she can do it and keep developing.”
