Celtic midfielder Benjamin Nygren has spoken confidently about the title race as the Scottish Premiership heats up ahead of massive fixtures across the festive period…

The Sweden international opened the scoring in the Hoops’ recent 3-1 victory over Aberdeen, finding the net to help deliver Wilfried Nancy his first win since taking charge, bringing an end to a disastrous spell that saw four straight defeats.

Reflecting on the campaign so far, Nygren admitted the opening months at Celtic tested both confidence and cohesion within the squad, but believes the setbacks have helped forge resilience in a squad determined to push forward after his summer arrival from FC Nordsjaelland.

Speaking via Celtic’s official YouTube channel, Nygren said: “We showed in the last game that it was not just a win, it was a very good performance with a lot of chances. In some of the other games, we have also created a lot of chances without scoring – the team feels good.”

“[It has been] Very difficult. No one in the club is used to losing games in general, especially not many in a row. It was a very difficult period, but that is behind us now, and we need to focus on what is ahead.”

“We stayed together and trained hard as we always do. We tried to focus on what we can do to win the games that are ahead of us. That has been our focus. We are now very excited [about Hearts’ challenge]– we will hunt them down.”

Attention now turns to a demanding schedule, starting with an away trip to Livingston on Saturday, followed by a visit to Fir Park to take on a high-flying Motherwell side currently sitting third in the table.

The festive period concludes with one of the biggest fixtures in the calendar, as Nygren and his teammates prepare to face theRangers in the third Glasgow derby of the season on 3 January 2026.
