I couldn't have hoped for a better ending, says Coombs

Goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, Alex Greenwood, Aoba Fujino and Vivianne Miedema saw City secure a fourth FA Cup with a 4-0 triumph over Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley.

Rose played the entirety of the game, helping City secure the Club’s first-ever double following our Barclays Women’s Super League triumph earlier this month.

It was the perfect end to a historic campaign for Andrée Jeglertz’s side, and a fantastic way for Coombs, Ouahabi and Startup to call time on their respective City careers.

“I think that each and every one of those individuals is such an incredibly special person who has brought so much light to this group,” began Rose.

“And I’m so sad to see each and every one of them go. I don’t think it’s necessarily going to feel like the same group without them, but I am so happy and so excited to see what they do with the rest of their careers.

“I know Coombsy is retiring but to see such a special human like that achieve so much in her career, it’s honestly incredible to see and I’m just so happy for all three of them.”

Rose joined City last summer ready to help the Blues fight for silverware.

And whilst that was her ambition, she admitted with a giggle that the achievements from her debut season in England has exceeded her expectations.

“No, not really! Not at all!”, said Rose when asked if City’s incredible campaign had sunk in yet.

“I came in saying that I wanted to win everything, every single competition that we were in.

“And I definitely think it has exceeded my expectations in the way that it was done. In the special group it was done with.

“So to that point it has exceeded my expectations but I’m pretty hard on myself, I’m pretty competitive so I had pretty high standards for myself and this group coming in this season.”
