Fábio Carvalho struck in stoppage time to earn Brentford a point in an entertaining London derby.

It was a slow start at the Gtech with neither side having a shot on target for the first half hour of the game but a real moment of quality brought the tie to life.

Jordan Henderson sent a brilliant pass downfield for Kevin Schade to latch on to. The German still had plenty to do but was able to keep his cool and fire past Robert Sánchez.

The game sparked into life after that with the visitors getting back in the game. Enzo Maresca's side really improved in the second half after two half time changes as well as Cole Palmer coming on in the 56th minute.

Just five minutes later, Palmer had scored when he got on the end of João Pedro's knock down to make it 1-1.

The England international had chances to make it 2-1 to his side, in particular after Pedro Neto squared the ball for him only for Palmer to fire his effort at Caoimhin Kelleher.

Maresca gave a debut to Alejandro Garnacho late on as Chelsea searched for the win late on with Moisés Caicedo eventually putting his side ahead. It was Garnacho who put the ball in from the left that was only half cleared into the path of the midfielder who lashed an effort into the net from the edge of the area under no pressure from the Bees' defence.

Chelsea had deserved to take the lead and perhaps take all three points but there was a stoppage-time twist.

Three minutes into added time, Brentford were searching for an equaliser and had plenty of bodies in the box for Schade's long throw. The ball bounced in the box with substitute Fábio Carvalho–who had only come on in the 90th minute–free at the far post to convert from close range.

That result means Chelsea finish the day in fifth place with eight points from their first four games, while Brentford's hard-earned point has them 12th on four points.
