Corinthians have brought back 31-year-old left-back Fabrizio Angileri after his contract expired on 31 December 2025.
According to Meu Timao, talks resumed as Corinthians struggled to find a low-cost left-back in a financially constrained window and with debt near R$ three billion.
Angileri signed in February 2025 after leaving Getafe, on a deal to the end of 2025 requested by then coach Ramón Díaz. He debuted with an assist in a 2-0 win over Mirassol and featured in the 31st Paulista triumph over Palmeiras.
His role shrank after Dorival Júnior arrived in April 2025, with Matheus Bidu reclaiming the spot and Angileri sometimes used as a left-sided third centre-back. He ended 2025 with 42 appearances, 26 starts and two assists, winning the Paulista and Copa do Brasil.
Renewal talks began in August 2025, resumed in November under Fabinho Soldado, then collapsed in December over finances. He left at season’s end and was absent on the third of January 2026 while a renewal was discussed.
With Marcelo Paz now executive, negotiations were paused because the demands did not fit policy, but a shortage at left-back revived them. He trained partially on Wednesday, with his return timely after Hugo Farias’ lateral meniscus surgery left Bidu as the only specialist.
