Romano Provides Latest Liverpool Update

Speaking on his YouTube channel, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano outlined the current expectation surrounding Chiesa’s future.

“Today Federico Chiesa spoke in Italy and said I want to play on a more consistent basis. So, the expectation is for Federico Chiesa to leave Liverpool this summer,” the journalist explained.

“That’s the expectation, that’s the plan.

“Then he said ‘I want to go on tour to the US, speak to the new manager, Andoni Iraola, to understand my situation. But I want to play, I need to play.’”

Iraola Talks Could Prove Decisive

Liverpool’s pre season tour could provide Chiesa with a valuable opportunity to impress Iraola directly and understand where he fits into the manager’s plans.

However, Romano added that those close to the player still believe a departure is the most probable outcome.

“And so, Federico Chiesa could have opportunities to leave Liverpool and the expectation of those close to the player is that he could really leave after being close to leaving in January.

“Now could be the moment to say goodbye to Liverpool.”

Unless Iraola can offer assurances over playing time, Chiesa may decide that a fresh challenge represents the best next step in his career.
