Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka has a release clause in excess of €25m contained in his contract, even as he continues to be linked with a summer move to Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim is believed to be eyeing midfield reinforcements ahead of the upcoming window and Lobotka’s name has recently popped up.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Lobotka could depart Napoli in the summer. The Serie A giants are open to selling him as this could be their final chance to make some money from parting ways with the 30-year-old footballer.
It was mentioned that alongside United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on signing Lobotka.
A €40m price tag was named but now, Romano has revealed that the Slovakia international could be acquired for significantly less.
Romano wrote on X, “Excl: Stanislav Lobotka has release clause in excess of €25m valid for summer 2025 into his contract at Napoli.”
“No decision made on future yet as he’s focused on title race, but clause 100% confirmed & Saudi clubs called to be informed.”
The defensive midfielder has made 33 appearances across all competitions this season and has provided two assists in that period.
It’s easy to see why Lobotka is not short of suitors. He rose to stardom in Napoli’s 2023 Scudetto title-winning side and has quietly remained one of the most impactful midfielders in Italy’s top flight.
He is an all-action presence in midfield, excelling in various roles such as controlling the tempo of the game, maintaining possession, and winning back the ball. Essentially, he is the heartbeat of the Napoli team.
United could certainly benefit from someone with Lobotka’s skillset and experience.
Whether the Red Devils would be willing to fork out around €25m to sign a player who turns 31 in November remains to be seen.
