Nuno Espírito Santo will be hoping to guide the club to promotion from the Championship straight away, but the Hammers are at risk of losing key players.

The likes of Mateus Fernandes, Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen have all been linked with a possible move away from the London Stadium.

The Portuguese coach will be hoping to hold onto as many players as he can that can help the team secure a top two finish next season.

West Ham will also be eager to bolster their squad for life in the second tier, in what could be quite a competitive battle for the top positions.

They will have until 1 September to conclude any business before the market shuts for the remainder of the calendar year.

It has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that West Ham have accepted that Summerville will be departing the club this summer.

There are understood to be several clubs interested in him, with Manchester United adding the Dutchman to their shortlist.

But they will face competition from a number of Premier League clubs following the Hammers’ relegation.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest in the former Leeds United player, who made the move to West Ham in 2024.

However, the European champions’ pursuit of Summerville will depend on the situation surrounding Yan Diomandé and Bradley Barcola.

Barcola is also entering the final 12 months of his PSG contract, raising uncertainty over his future.

If the 23-year-old is sold and the Ligue 1 side can’t bring Diomandé in as his replacement, then they could step up their pursuit of Summerville.

How West Ham fans feel about Crysencio Summerville’s future

Some West Ham fans have accepted that Summerville’s departure is looking increasingly likely, and are hoping a good World Cup performance can help push up the asking price for his services.

A figure of £60 million has been mentioned by some fans, although it remains unclear whether anyone would be willing to pay that kind of a fee at this stage.

Meanwhile, some fans are growing frustrated that the club’s new majority shareholder, Daniel Kretinsky, will be selling top talent following his move to buy more control of the team.

And one supporter showed some concern for the worst possible scenario, which would be a long-term injury while competing in North America for the Netherlands.

Summerville will be in action this evening in a 6pm kick-off against Sweden.

If West Ham need to sell a player or two to aid their financial position in relation to the profit and sustainability rules (PSR), then Summerville is an obvious target.

PSG will be an incredibly appealing option for the Dutchman, even if he would likely be a secondary choice option given their strength in attack already.

A figure around the £50 million mark could be good business for West Ham, and would double the amount paid for him two years ago.
