Fabrizio Romano said on X that Ayase Ueda could leave Feyenoord this summer, with approaches already under way from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs after his World Cup impact.

Leeds United are expected to target a striker as they reshape the squad, while also closing in on Shea Charles. Talks with Southampton have taken place after an initial 30m bid was rejected.

Stuart Dallas is an admirer of the Northern Ireland international. Daniel Farke is expected to address goalkeeper, left-back, an Aaronson alternative and competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Leeds missed out on Jacob Strand Larsen in January, underlining the need for another option up front. Ueda, Ao Tanaka’s international team-mate, has been linked after impressing for Feyenoord.

The 27-year-old struck twice in Japan’s 4-0 win over Tunisia after a draw with the Netherlands in their opener, boosting his profile. A 26m fee has been floated and he scored 26 goals last season.

Ueda would not come cheap, but he could prove a smart addition if Leeds decide to act this summer.
