Per Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United have entered the chase for Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović, with Sunderland and Bournemouth having made contact in recent weeks and Juventus retaining a 50 per cent sell-on clause.

Sunderland want to add another centre-back to Régis Le Bris’ squad this summer and have been linked with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international. There is no suggestion of a formal bid from the Stadium of Light at this stage.

The clause would entitle Juventus to half of any fee Sassuolo receive from a future sale.

Muharemović, 23, made 32 appearances for Sassuolo last season, 31 in Serie A, scoring twice. The left-footed defender has senior caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina and is contracted until 2031.

With multiple clubs circling, Sunderland are continuing to explore a deal for the centre-back. The situation remains fluid awaiting clarity on Juventus’ position and any formal offers.
