Bradley Barcola to Liverpool: PSG Talks Set to Continue as Fabrizio Romano Outlines Transfer Stance

Paris Saint-Germain are busy. That is the starting point, and it matters because Bradley Barcola sits in the middle of a club actively reshaping its squad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG have already been moving on multiple fronts, with outgoing deals raising major money and incoming plans accelerating. In his words, Paris is now “the center of the transfer market”. He added that the French champions had been “very quiet, working on the outgoings” before “now attacking the market”.

That wider backdrop matters for Liverpool, because Barcola is no side issue. Romano made it clear that this is one of the defining stories of the window, and the key detail is straightforward. “Bradley Barcola, next week new contacts prepared between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola.”

That is the line that counts.

Barcola wants Liverpool move

Romano was direct on the player’s position, and there is no need to dress it up. “The player, Barcola, wants to go to Liverpool.” He then doubled down, saying, “Barcola is more than open to joining Liverpool project.”

That changes the tone of the conversation. It does not complete the deal, and it does not force PSG to sell, but it removes one obstacle. If Liverpool are serious, and Romano says they are, then the issue moves away from persuading the player and towards the harder part, the club-to-club negotiation.

Romano also pointed to the scale of the pursuit. “One of the biggest exclusive of the summer when all people say that Barcola was untouchable for Paris Saint-Germain, I was coming here and telling you, Liverpool are there for Barcola. Liverpool will try for Barcola.”

That is a useful correction to the wider noise around this deal. For weeks, plenty of talk painted Barcola as out of reach. Romano’s version is different. Liverpool have been on this trail, and they have been on it for a while.

PSG transfer stance makes price decisive

There is, however, a complication, and it is the obvious one. Money.

Romano said, “Now, it’s time to make it happen on club side because the player, Barcola, wants to go to Liverpool.” He followed that with the part Liverpool supporters will focus on most carefully, “There is still work to do between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.”

Again, no drama, no fantasy. This is a negotiation. It may be a long one too. Romano’s view was clear: “My feeling, this is not going to be something imminent. So, I don’t expect that he will go on Monday or on Tuesday.”

That suggests patience will be required. It also points to the possibility of a drawn-out saga, which Romano stated plainly: “There is a possibility this is going to be a saga in this summer transfer window, but this depends on Liverpool on how much they want to spend.”

That last point is the hinge. Liverpool want the player. The player wants Liverpool. PSG are not slamming the door. But PSG are dictating terms. Romano’s wording was exact and important, “Paris Saint-Germain are open to negotiating but at their conditions, expensive deal.”

So this is the picture. Liverpool have identified Barcola as the priority, the player is willing, and PSG are prepared to talk. The problem is that being prepared to talk is not the same as being prepared to compromise.

PSG market activity shapes Barcola discussions

Romano’s broader PSG update explains why the club can afford to hold a hard line. He said the French side have been generating substantial sums through exits, listing “38 million euros plus 12 in easy add-ons from Juventus” for Randal Kolo Muani, while “Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan, 75 million euros guaranteed, 10 in add-ons” and “Kang-in Lee to Atlético Madrid as well” were also mentioned.

On arrivals, Romano said Maghnes Akliouche “will complete medical test and sign for 50 million euros”, while “Mika Godts to Paris Saint-Germain is getting close, close, close” after an official bid of “40 million euros plus five in a bonus”. He also described Ferran Torres as “absolutely a topic to follow in the next days” and reported that PSG had made an official proposal to Parma for Zion Suzuki, a “33 million euros package and bonus included”.

Put simply, PSG are active, liquid and under no immediate pressure. That strengthens their hand in any Barcola discussion. Liverpool are not negotiating with a club that needs to sell quickly. They are negotiating with a club choosing its price.
