The centre-forward is closing in on a move to The Hawthorns.
West Brom will be well aware that failure to make the right signings this summer could lead to another dismal season in the Championship.
The Baggies endured a torrid second-tier season, going through managers like toilet roll, while a points' deduction took them to the brink of relegation.
Albion have already been decisive heading into the transfer window, with long-serving duo Jed Wallace and Daryl Dike among the players to leave as free agents.
With the window now open, the Black Country club can now step up their recruitment drive, and details have now emerged of a deal to bring Chelsea's Jimmy-Jay Morgan to The Hawthorns.

The Baggies did not find the net with ease last season, with only four Championship sides scoring fewer goals, making their attack a key area of focus for next season.
Aune Heggebo, who joined Albion in the summer of 2025, finished the campaign as the club's top scorer with 10 goals in all competitions, while Isaac Price delivered in his first full season at The Hawthorns.
Now, West Brom are targeting goals and creativity in the form of the Blues' Jay-Morgan, who spent last season on loan with League One outfit Peterborough United.
A deal has been agreed between the two clubs for a £4million package, while the West Londoners have also included a sell-on clause as part of the deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The centre-forward enjoyed an encouraging spell with Posh last term, bagging 14 goals and four assists in all competitions, having managed just two with Gillingham the season prior.
Jay-Morgan also has a promising record with Chelsea's youth setup, notching 21 goals and four assists for the under-21s following his switch from Southampton.

West Brom's move for Jay-Morgan is pleasing news on many fronts, as not only has he delivered decent numbers, but at 20 he is certainly a player with vast potential.
However, Baggies supporters will hope that their club does not stop there and pursue further attacking talent to help their cause in a stacked Championship next term.
Given that the forward bagged 12 goals in League One, there will be question marks over whether he has the ability to hit the ground running and deliver 15-plus goals, which would be a good target for any Albion striker.
Of course, the club are working on deals for Karlan Grant and Josh Maja, and if they put pen to paper, then James Morrison will have several appealing options in attack.
While Albion fans would surely rather have a reputable second-tier goalscorer join their ranks, Jay-Morgan's numbers are promising, and if the club can add a couple more attacking players, then they will be in a better place this summer.
