Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho’s salary demands are putting on ice any attempts to move on the controversial attacker.

The winger played on loan at Chelsea last season but the Blues refused to activate an obligation to buy him and paid United a £5 million fee to get themselves out of the deal.

He has since been linked to a plethora of clubs as he has no future at Old Trafford.

Fenerbahce in Turkey, SSC Napoli and Juventus have been the clubs most strongly linked with an interest in the player in recent days.

Nonetheless, it was reported yesterday that Jose Mourinho blocked Fenerbahce’s move for the player, narrowing his exit options further.

There have been reports that clubs are generally content to match United’s £20-25 million asking price but that teams have been put off by his excessive wage demands.

The winger is said to earn around £250,000 a week at the club and none of his suitors are prepared to match his current salary.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that this has in fact been the reason for a lack of movement in any hypothetical deal involving Sancho.

Commenting on the current situation he said, “at the moment nobody wants to cover the full salary of Jadon Sancho. So the salary is the topic. It was also why Chelsea decided not to proceed with the Jadon Sancho story because they didn’t want to break their structure with salaries.”

Romano has reported that a deal for Sancho to leave United is certainly not dead as he said that he could “confirm interest from Italy. The calls from Juventus, the calls from Napoli two weeks ago.”

Nonetheless, one team that certainly looks out of the race for now is Fenerbahce.

He added, “what’s important to say is that Fenerbahce does not look like a concrete destination for Jadon Sancho because the situation has gone very, very quiet.”
