The arrival of Diego Colotto as manager has signalled a sweeping overhaul at Colón, yet Facundo Castro remains in the club’s plans for 2026.
According to Radiogol.com, few players from last season will stay, even those under contract, but the staff still have faith in Castro.
Castro joined mid-year at the request of Andrés Yllana. He came from Melgar in Peru and had been among the leading scorers in the 2024 Primera Nacional with Nueva Chicago.
His debut could hardly have started better, an early goal against Temperley put Colón ahead before Temperley turned it round to win 2-1.
Initial excitement soon faded. Castro finished the year with 13 appearances and only one goal, the strike in that debut.
He has one year left on his contract, and Ezequiel Medrán and Colotto believe his track record means he can be recovered. While Colón will look for more forwards, Castro will get the chance to fight for a place and is set to be the only centre forward retained for next year.
