Lens defender Facundo Medina (26) has arrived in Marseille ahead of a medical before signing a reported five year-deal with Olympique de Marseille. The Argentine defender arrived at Marseille Provence airport in a sweltering afternoon after the two clubs came to an agreement over a €22m transfer last night, according to a report from L’Équipe. La Provence report that he transfer agreement between Marseille and Lens consists of a €2m paid loan, with a mandatory purchase clause worth €18m, plus up to €2m in performance-related bonuses.Despite the sweltering heat at Marignane’s general aviation terminal, around thirty OM supporters gathered to greet their new defender. Medina appeared relaxed and confident, posing for selfies and speaking briefly to fans. “I’m coming to Marseille to win titles,” he declared in the presence of La Provence, draped in an OM scarf.Negotiations reportedly accelerated last night and an agreement was found in the early hours of the morning over a €22m fee which includes bonuses. The Sang & Or were holding out for between €20-25m, that OM were trying to negotiate down after initially hesitating over the initial valuation.But all signs currently point towards Medina joining international teammate and Marseille captain Leonardo Balerdi this summer to reinforce OM’s defence.
