It was Roberto De Zerbi who brought Facundo Medina (26) to Olympique de Marseille, but by February, the Italian manager had departed. De Zerbi’s exit made Medina “furious”, as he has revealed in an interview with RMC Sport.

Medina joined OM on a loan deal with a buy option. As reported by L’Équipe, OM are looking to build around the Argentina international. His loan move from RC Lens is, therefore, expected to be made permanent. However, it hasn’t been an easy season for the defender, who has been limited to 22 appearances in all competitions due to injuries.

It has been a mixed season on a collective level, too. A blip at the turn of the year saw De Zerbi leave the club. Medina did not take it well. “I don’t know how the other players took it but I was deeply angered. I was furious,” he revealed in an interview with RMC Sport.

He continued, “His exit hurt, disrupted us, but it is our responsibility to keep going. I told Roberto this. We have a very sincere relationship because we have had the same sort of journey. We share a similar childhood and this fire, this madness that is within us.”

De Zerbi has since joined Tottenham Hotspur. At OM, he was replaced by Habib Beye, whose own future is now coming into question.
