As was the case with Anthony Gordon, FC Barcelona have also been rather quick in their operation to sign the German forward Karim Adeyemi. Only three or four days ago, the Borussia Dortmund striker was not among the most prominent players linked with the Catalan club, but thanks to the work done over the past few days, his signing is now almost imminent.

The Blaugranes have already reached an agreement with the player himself, but saw their first offer of €20 million for him being rejected by the Bundesliga side. However, negotiations continued even after this rejection.

Now, Mundo Deportivo cites Fabrizio Romano to claim that Barcelona have also surmounted this obstacle, as they have reached a verbal agreement with Dortmund for the German forward. However, some bureaucratic obstacles and contract formalities remain before this signing is finalized.

The report reveals that the Catalans have increased their offer for Adeyemi. While they offered €20 million in their first proposal, they are now offering €22 million fixed and another €7 million in individual performance and team objective related variables. Dortmund have verbally agreed to these new terms.

The role of the forward himself was key in the swift resolution of his transfer. He wanted to sign only for the Blaugrana club, and was unwilling to renew his contract with the Bundesliga side, which is going to expire in only a year. Thus, the Germans were pressed into accepting a transfer, as the alternative would have been to lose him for free next year.

While the deal has yet to be officially completed, the report suggests that Karim Adeyemi is expected to sign a 5-year contract with Barcelona. He is expected to arrive in the Catalan capital next week, and would join Hansi Flick’s team right away to begin training with the squad in preseason before playing his first season at his new club.
