Leeds United could face an approach from FC Koln for Sebastiaan Bornauw this summer. Bild claims the Bundesliga club are considering the 27-year-old after opting against a permanent deal for Cenk Ozkacar from Valencia.

After avoiding relegation, Koln plan to reshape their defence and want an aerially strong centre-back with passing range, the report added. They ended the season with one win from 14 since early February.

Bornauw joined from Wolfsburg for £5.1million last summer but has been on the fringes. He is behind Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk and Jaka Bijol in Daniel Farke’s pecking order.

Even during defensive injuries, James Justin has often been used on the right of a back three. Bornauw has played 771 minutes across 17 matches in all competitions.

In early April, Farke praised the Belgian’s character and said he accepted a backup role. He highlighted Bornauw’s ability to cover all three centre-back roles, and even full-back or wing-back if required.

One of his few starts came at right-back in the FA Cup at Norwich, when he was withdrawn at half-time. His next start was the 1-0 victory over Brighton earlier this month.

Leeds’ Premier League safety was secured a few weeks earlier, allowing planning for 2026/27.
