FC Porto officials outraged by Coimbra pitch condition | OneFootball

According to O Jogo, FC Porto officials were left indignant and astonished after inspecting the Coimbra pitch, telling the FPF it was unacceptable for a game of this importance to be played on a surface in such poor condition.

The club had monitored the situation in recent weeks and received assurances from the FPF that the turf would be in good order, which only deepened their frustration.

In his pre-match press conference, Francesco Farioli said it was sad to contest such an important match on a pitch in this state, and even joked about a hybrid surface with patches of grass and bare areas.

He noted lingering uncertainties, including the referee situation and the suboptimal surface, but said both teams would face the same conditions. He added there could be no alibis and that extra focus would be needed.

FC Porto are worried about the standard of play and, crucially, the physical integrity of the players.

The fixture is scheduled for 20:15 on Saturday.
