FC Porto have been linked with Jorge Salinas after his title-winning season with Racing Santander and promotion to LaLiga. AS reports that Porto are among several clubs tracking the 19-year-old left-back, left-footed and 1.83 metres tall, who can also play centre-back.
The same report says he could become the most expensive sale in Racing’s history if conditions are met, with 14 million euros the current record.
Racing believe his release clause now stands at 16 million euros, doubled by promotion. However, the 2026/27 season begins on 1 July, so until then the club remain classified as second tier and the clause is 8 million.
Another interpretation stems from his registration with the Spanish federation as a youth-team player, which some argue reduces the clause further to 4 million euros.
Other clubs credited with interest include Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen, Bologna and Newcastle, with PSG also possible. Salinas is represented by Jorge Mendes.
Salinas stood out in the second tier, starting 31 of 34 matches in league and Copa del Rey and providing seven assists. His profile has drawn comparisons to Sergio Ramos. A strong offer from Saudi Arabia is said to have been turned down last year.
