FC Porto to honour Pinto da Costa with limited-edition shirt and 00:42 drone show | OneFootball

FC Porto are marking the first anniversary of Pinto da Costa’s death with a series of tributes, led by a limited-edition shirt and a 00:42 drone display at the Dragão. According to O Jogo, the commemorative shirt goes on sale today, capped at 2,594 pieces, each linked to a trophy from his presidency.

Each shirt contains an NFC chip that sends a phone to a page with full details of the corresponding title. The back carries the number 42, reflecting his years in office. In November, André Villas-Boas told members at a General Assembly that a shirt celebrating the club’s honours under Pinto da Costa, with a design intended as a fitting tribute, was being prepared.

At 00:42 on Sunday, exactly one year since his passing from prostate cancer, a drone show will light up the Dragão, visible from outside the venue. The display forms part of the club’s overnight homage.

On the same day, a digital version of the memorial will go live on the club’s official website. Supporters will be able to explore the space virtually and trace its creation, from items placed by fans at Gate 24 to the final installation inside the stadium corridors.

Porto also face Nacional in the league that day and may look to dedicate any victory to him. The physical memorial has already been visited by more than 15,000 people.
