FC Porto went ahead through William Gomes, only for Nottingham Forest to level moments later.

In the 11th minute, the winger finished at the far post from a low ball from the left by Gabri Veiga, with Moffi narrowly failing to connect.

By the 13th minute, Forest were level through an own goal by Martim Fernandes. Porto had been exchanging passes near halfway when Fernandes played back towards Diogo Costa, who was out of his goal.

The early flurry left it 1-1 in the opening stages.
