FC Twente climb to fifth as Hlynsson seals comeback | OneFootball

FC Twente beat Groningen 2-1 at De Grolsch Veste to climb from seventh to fifth in the Eredivisie, handing the visitors a fifth straight league defeat.

In the 35th minute Marvin Peersman headed in from close range after Younes Taha's cross following a corner. Daan Rots levelled from the right side of the box (39.), finishing after a pass from Stav Lemkin.

After the restart Kristian Hlynsson swept in a left-footed winner from the left side of the area (48.) at the end of a fast break.

Etienne Vaessen kept Groningen in contention with late saves, including from Mats Rots. Lars Unnerstall denied Thom van Bergen with a central header as FC Twente protected their advantage.

FC Twente registered six attempts and hit the target four times. Groningen produced 11 attempts with three on target.

Groningen remain eighth. Next, FC Twente host Feyenoord. Groningen visit Volendam.
