Fede Valverde was taken from Real Madrid’s dressing room in a wheelchair after a two-day confrontation with Aurelien Tchouameni that escalated at training on Thursday. He required stitches after hitting his head during the incident and was taken to hospital.
Diario AS reports that the pair first clashed on Wednesday, then tensions rose when Valverde refused to shake Tchouameni’s hand the next day. Back in the dressing room, Valverde accused Tchouameni of leaking details to the press, which the Frenchman denied, before the dispute spilled onto the pitch.
With Arbeloa not intervening, the session turned hostile, featuring a series of rough challenges. After training, Valverde kept pressing his claims in the dressing room, where Tchouameni stood up, asked him to stop and warned he was crossing a line.
Team-mates tried to calm things, but the exchanges ended only when Tchouameni punched Valverde, who fell and struck his head on a table, requiring stitches, the report said. He was visibly dizzy afterwards.
RMC Sport claims he was briefly unconscious after hitting the ground.
Both players could face action for their behaviour, with Real Madrid looking at suspensions. It could also lead to a summer sale, and neither will feature in El Clasico against Barcelona this weekend. General manager Jose Angel Sanchez held an emergency meeting to defuse tensions.
