Federico Dimarco and Bryan Cristante have withdrawn from Italy's squad for the international window due to injury. The Italian federation announced their withdrawals.

Having been selected by Roberto Mancini, the 2025-2026 Serie A player of the season underwent medical tests on Monday morning that showed he had not fully recovered from the problem sustained in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Roma. He has left the Azzurri camp and is replaced by new Aston Villa left-back Matteo Ruggeri, 24.

Cristante, Roma's captain with 48 caps, was also injured in the weekend clash with Inter and has had to pull out. Como midfielder Samuele Ricci has been called up to cover him.

Italy will play four Nations League matches in a near three-week window, Belgium on 25 September, Türkiye on 28 September and 5 October, and France on 2 October.

France are now managed by Zinédine Zidane.
