Felipe Anderson has detailed his injury struggles since returning to Brazil, citing a heavier calendar that took him from about 50 to roughly 70 matches a year. He said he played through pain last year and has adapted his game and mindset to be decisive for Palmeiras. According to Globo.com, he is now making the most of Abel Ferreira’s opportunities in his third season.

He has three assists and two goals this year, and stood out in the Copa do Brasil win that sealed a place in the last 16. Against Jacuipense he scored in the 3-0 first leg, then added another goal and two assists in the 4-1 return.

After arriving in May 2024, the 33-year-old moved from a run of three seasons without missing a game at Lazio to a new reality. He missed 22 of Palmeiras’ 135 matches since 17 July 2024 because of physical issues, which equates to 16.30%.

He noted that the relentless schedule hinders recovery and that a player who completes 90 minutes typically needs about two days to recover. Abel Ferreira said that in congested spells some players still feature while not fully fit, and maintained there is no doubt about Anderson’s talent.

The workload has even affected fundamentals, with a drop in free-kick goals. While handling external pressure, Anderson said he has worked on the mental side and adjusted to a style he considers to involve more touches than he experienced in Italy.
