Fenerbahce are reportedly lining up Domenico Tedesco as the prime candidate to replace Jose Mourinho, according to Sky Italia.
Mourinho was relieved of his duties last month after Fenerbahce were narrowly defeated by Benfica in the Champions League playoffs, bringing an end to the Portuguese’s 13-month spell in Istanbul.
Since Mourinho’s departure, assistant coach Zeki Murat Gole has taken charge of proceedings on a temporary basis as Fenerbahce continue their search for a new manager.
The Turkish giants were linked with a move for former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou but now seem to have set their sights on hiring Tedesco.
However, not only Fenerbahce are showing strong interest in the 39-year-old Italian, who is also wanted by Premier League side Nottingham Forest.
Forest are believed to have already approached Tedesco as they consider their options in the event of a managerial change, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s future at The City Ground far from certain.
Both Fenerbahce and Forest are currently awaiting Tedesco’s final decision regarding his preferred destination. At just 39, Tedesco has already garnered considerable managerial experience.
His breakthrough came in the Bundesliga, where he started his coaching career and achieved notable success. Most prominently, Tedesco led RB Leipzig to win the DFB-Pokal in 2022.
After his spell in Germany, Tedesco took charge of the Belgian national team for two seasons, further broadening his managerial resume with international experience.
He is now poised to return to club football, bringing with him a combination of youthful energy and a passion to win.
