Fenerbahce fans destroy Ibrox seats after Europa League elimination by Rangers as post-game images emerge | OneFootball

Rangers dumped Fenerbahce out of the Europa League on Thursday night at Ibrox after winning on penalties after both clubs played out a 3-3 draw on aggregate, and the visiting fans could not take it, with some of them destroying seats after the game, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Light Blues headed into the second-leg with a 3-1 advantage from last week, but the Turkish Super Lig club scored two unreplied goals to draw themselves level, and the round of 16 tie had to be settled with spot-kicks, which Rangers won 3-2.

Around 2,000 Fenerbahce supporters were at Ibrox from the game, and they reacted to missing out on a place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League by ripping up seats.

Several of the chairs in the lower tier of the stand – nearest to the goal – had the backs and the seat ripped from their hinges, and Rangers now have some repairs to do going forward.

Luckily for them, they play host next on April 5 and should have enough time to get the vandalised areas fixed before Hibernian come calling in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers are back in action on Sunday with a trip to Parkhead to take on Celtic, and caretaker manager Barry Ferguson will be desperate to pick up all three points and the bragging rights which come with a victory against the Hoops.

They host Athletic Club in the first-leg of the quarter-final next month and could do with some morale-boosting wins ahead of the match.

A victory on Sunday will not mean much with 16 points between them and the league leaders after 29 games, but they could do with it as they look to impress in Europe after dumping Fenerbahce out of the competition.

Advancing to the semi-finals will be huge, and Ferguson will boost his chances of getting the job permanently if he can take Rangers as far as the last-four.
