Mason Greenwood has urged Marseille to let him leave, with Fenerbahçe’s interest threatening to derail Roma’s long-running chase.

Corriere dello Sport reports that Fenerbahçe are ready to pay the forward €7m-€8m net per season, a package that outstrips rival offers and puts the Istanbul club in position to pounce.

Marseille signed Greenwood on 18 July 2024 on a five-year deal worth up to €31.6m. He was joint-top Ligue 1 scorer with Ousmane Dembele on 21 in his debut season, then finished 2025-26 on 16, totalling 26 across the campaign.

The French club value him at €55m, a stance reinforced by Manchester United’s 40% sell-on clause. They are under no pressure to accept discounted bids.

Roma had a verbal agreement on a €4.5m net salary, rising through bonuses and long-term milestones, and offered him a central role in attack.

After finishing third last season to reach the Champions League, Roma asked for patience while they address specific financial issues, delaying formal moves and opening the door to rivals.

Roma remain Greenwood’s preference, but he is unwilling to wait indefinitely. He has set a soft deadline of 5 July to decide his future, after which he could commit elsewhere, including the proposal from Türkiye.
