Ferland Mendy set to leave Real Madrid | OneFootball

Ferland Mendy (31) looks set to leave Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, according to a report from The Athletic. The French international defender has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. 

Following the appointment of Jose Mourinho on a contract until 2029, the Spanish capital club are undergoing a squad reshuffle with several players expected to arrive and depart the La Liga giants before the transfer window closes. Mendy is one of the names set to depart. 

Real Madrid sign Marc Cucurella

As part of his extensive shopping list, Mourinho asked for a versatile left back who can also play centre-back. Madrid have recently secured the services of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, further reducing the chances of any consistent minutes for Mendy. He only made 5 league appearances last season.
