Fernando Diniz sees historic Libertadores streak end in Corinthians’ 2-0 home loss to Platense | OneFootball

On Wednesday night, Corinthians were beaten 2-0 by Argentina’s Platense at Neo Química Arena, ending Fernando Diniz’s historic unbeaten run in the Copa Libertadores.

According to Meu Timao, the sequence spanned his final matches with Fluminense and his early weeks with Corinthians.

The run stood at 19 games without defeat, comprising 12 wins and seven draws.

Since his appointment on 6 April, Corinthians have taken 11 points from six Libertadores rounds. Their first three matches under Diniz brought 2-0 wins over Platense, Independiente Santa Fe of Colombia and Peñarol of Uruguay.

Two 1-1 draws followed, against the Colombians and the Uruguayans.

Already through to the last 16, Corinthians now turn to the Campeonato Brasileiro, visiting Grêmio on Saturday at 17:30 in Porto Alegre.
