Fifa has overhauled the Copa das Campeãs, the Women’s Club World Cup, with the Libertadores winners now debuting in the semi-finals against Barcelona, the Women’s Champions League holders. The shift makes the route to the title tougher for South America’s champions.
According to Meu Timao, if Corinthians win the 2026 Libertadores they would face Barcelona in their first fixture at the intercontinental event.
In the last edition the format differed. Corinthians, champions of the 2025 Libertadores, began against Gotham FC, winners of the Concacaf W Champions Cup, in the semi-finals, then met Arsenal, the European champions, in the final under coach Lucas Piccinato.
Two clubs are already assured for 2027. Barcelona will be paired with the Libertadores winners in the semi-finals, while América of Mexico, champions of the Concacaf W Champions Cup, are on the other side of the bracket.
Three clubs remain in contention to meet the Mexican side in the semi-final. The African champions are already through to the quarter-finals, and Naegohyang of North Korea will face the Oceania champions in the round of 16.
The 2027 Copa das Campeãs will be staged in Miami, United States, from 27 to 31 January. The city will host the final phase, with stadiums still to be confirmed.
